Moderation

The punishments of the network. They all live on the proxy, so a ban given on one server holds on every server.

The commands

Every punishment command takes the target, an optional -s and a reason. The reason is the rest of the line, spaces included.

CommandPermissionWhat it does
/ban <player> [-s] <reason...>appeltools.command.moderation.banBan the player for good.
/tempban <player> <duration> [-s] <reason...>appeltools.command.moderation.tempbanBan the player for a while.
/unban <player> [-s] <reason...>appeltools.command.moderation.unbanLift a ban.
/kick <player> [-s] <reason...>appeltools.command.moderation.kickKick the player.
/ipkick <player> [-s] <reason...>appeltools.command.moderation.ipkickKick every account on that address.
/mute <player> [-s] <reason...>appeltools.command.moderation.muteMute the player for good.
/tempmute <player> <duration> [-s] <reason...>appeltools.command.moderation.tempmuteMute the player for a while.
/unmute <player> [-s] <reason...>appeltools.command.moderation.unmuteLift a mute.
/ipmute <player> [-s] <reason...>appeltools.command.moderation.ipmuteMute every account on that address.
/tempipmute <player> <duration> [-s] <reason...>appeltools.command.moderation.tempipmuteMute every account on that address for a while.
/ipunmute <player> [-s] <reason...>appeltools.command.moderation.ipunmuteLift an address mute.
/ipban <player> [-s] <reason...>appeltools.command.moderation.ipbanBan every account on that address.
/tempipban <player> <duration> [-s] <reason...>appeltools.command.moderation.tempipbanBan every account on that address for a while.
/ipunban <player> [-s] <reason...>appeltools.command.moderation.ipunbanLift an address ban.
/history <player>appeltools.command.moderation.historyThe punishments of a player.

The target may be offline: the plugin looks the name up in its own cache, so you can punish somebody who is not playing.

The silent flag

Without -s the punishment is announced to the whole network. With -s it is announced to the staff only — the players never see it.

The silent punishments are still written to the database, still shown in /history, and still posted on Discord.

The duration

The temporary commands take a duration:

WrittenMeans
30s30 seconds
10m10 minutes
2h2 hours
7d7 days
1moA month
1yA year

The temporary punishment lifts itself when the time is up — nobody has to unban the player.

What the player sees

A player who is banned is disconnected with a message that holds the reason, the name of the staff member who gave the punishment and the date. A muted player is told that he is muted when he tries to chat.

A player who tries to join while he is banned is disconnected with the same message — on every server of the network, because the punishments live in the shared database.

The address punishments

The ip variants punish every account that joins with the same address, not only the account you named. They are the answer to somebody who changes his name and comes back.

WARNING

An address punishment catches everybody behind that address — including somebody who shares a connection with the player. Use them when the account is really the problem.

The address of a player is the address he joined with. On a network with a proxy that is the address of the proxy, so the address punishments do nothing there unless the addresses of the players are recorded — see server.record-player-ips in the configuration.

The history

/history Steve

The punishments of a player: the bans, the mutes, the kicks and the lifts of them, with the reason, the staff member and the date.

Lifting a punishment

/unban, /unmute, /ipunban and /ipunmute lift the punishment of that player. The lift is written down as well, so the history shows both the punishment and the lift.

TIP

There is no command that lifts a punishment that was given for the wrong reason. The history shows everything, and a new punishment can be given afterwards.
